Affiliate program providers, also known as affiliate managers,
run affiliate marketing programs which assist affiliates in sales
generation. An affiliate manager may be the person who began the
program or an outside source hired by the company. In most cases,
affiliates are better off if the former is true. Managers are
prone to be more helpful if they have some vested interest in
the program.
Duties of affiliate program providers include:
• Creation or improvement of an affiliate program.
• Ecommerce training for affiliates within the program.
• Providing promotional materials for affiliates.
• Keeping in touch with affiliates and keeping them up to
date on new products and/or services.
• Tracking affiliate sales and making sure they receive
compensation.
• Affiliate recruitment.
Becoming an affiliate manager does not require any proper training
or certification. Many affiliate program providers do little more
than track sales and pay commissions. These types of managers
are sufficient for companies who are not terribly concerned with
Internet marketing, but want to keep a foot in the door. Marketing
is the chief concern for most people involved in affiliate programs
and a competent affiliate program provider is a necessity.
