Legitimate affiliate programs are beneficial to everyone involved.
Merchants and advertisers gain increased exposure which leads
to increased revenue. Affiliates (also known as publishers) and
affiliate managers receive commissions for generating costumers
for such companies. These commissions may be based on sales, subscriptions
or Web site traffic.
Consumers may not gain anything directly from affiliate programs
but there are possible benefits. Because the system is based on
the generation of as many costumers as possible, competition is
fierce. Merchants and advertisers will do almost anything they
can to draw perspective spenders toward their Web sites and products.
Thus consumers profit by way of bargains and promotions.
On top of deals offered by vendors, affiliate programs and sites
often offer promotions of their own to increase consumption. Special
offers play a relatively small role in producing new costumers.
They can help seal the deal as far actual sales are concerned
but much of the time affiliates and advertisers are more concerned
with increased traffic. As a result a whole new realm of Internet
marketers, known as pay-per-click affiliates have emerged.
